If you guessed tomato, you’re absolutely right. Well, half right. That’s because it’s not just any tomato. It’s not among the common types of tomatoes that you add into your veggie burger, green salad and spaghetti.
The kind of tomato we’re dealing with is black tomato. Have you seen one or taste some your life? If not, then include this on your to-try list.
Black tomatoes are a fruit (well botanically tomatoes are fruit but cooked and eaten as vegetable) that are not well known to many people around the world. This is easily grown at any type of soil and weather. However, the first harvest was recorded in the UK, Great Britain to be exact. It’s founded by a gardener named Ray Brown after he received a package labeled as black tomato. He then started planting the seeds and nourished them to grow.

This tomato contains anthocyanin, which is a type of antioxidant that fights off cancer cells. It’s a very effective natural solution to reduce the risk of cancers. Not to mention, there is the presence of lycopene. This health benefit is effective if taken on a regular basis.
You may think this is a type of berry but then your mind instantly plays telling you it’s tomato because of its usual shape, size and appearance. The only factor that makes you doubt it’s tomato is its black color. This is a very unusual color since tomato color is commonly known as red. Its black color pigment is a result of exposure to the sun. As far as the taste is concerned, it’s almost the same as typical tomatoes but stronger.
